West Texas Millipedes are abundant in this area especially after a good rain.

They burrow in the soil and come up after a heavy rain to breed and eat.

Millipedes feed on decomposing organic matter, but will occasionally damage seedling plants by feeding on leaves, stems and roots.

They curl up tightly when they are handled or messed with. They also release a fluid from glands. So make sure you wash your hands. They're not dangerous but they can discolor your skin with their stuff they secret for a little while.

A good exterior treatment of the yard can reduce the population.
